Aether Refiner is a free puzzle game for Android where matches refine instead of vanishing: three copper ore become a bronze ingot, three ingots a forged blade. It has over 2,000 levels, and a solver proves each one can be beaten without boosters or purchases before it ships. There are no lives, no energy, no timers and no ads.

Aether Refiner is a match-and-refine puzzle game from The Great Cloud, an independent UK studio. Swap pieces to match three and, instead of disappearing, they refine into the next tier: ore becomes an ingot, ingots become a blade. Each level asks you to forge particular pieces, defeat the creatures crawling across the board, or both, within a move budget. Creatures fight back from level four: Gloammite seal pieces in carapace, Cinder Stalkers lock them in embers, Lens Sentries steal moves.
The game is built against the usual free-to-play tricks. There are no lives, no energy bar and no timers, so nothing ever stops you playing. There are no ads in this version. The optional store sells booster packs with fixed, listed contents and permanent cosmetics; nothing random is ever sold. Before any level ships, a solver plays it to a win using only legal moves and no boosters.
It plays fully offline, with Google Play Games achievements and cloud save for anyone who wants them. Aether Refiner is also growing into the mobile companion to The Great Cloud, an MMORPG in development, and nothing bought in the puzzle ever grants power there.
What makes it different
- Refining, not clearing. Matches build higher-tier pieces from five crafting chains (metallurgy, forestry, alchemy, arcana and textiles), so each level is about constructing, not just emptying the board.
- Every level is proven beatable. A solver plays each level within its move budget, with no boosters, and checks it can't reach a dead board. A build doesn't ship if that test fails.
- No dark patterns. No lives, timers, countdown sales, loot boxes or fake scarcity. Every pack shows exactly what's in it.
- A companion to an MMORPG in development. Set in the world of The Great Cloud and built on its crafting.
